coco, forget me not.
I have come across this fine art trained illustrator, Coco, a little like my favourite Deanne Cheuk. She has produced a collection of scarves with a woodland theme that are right up my street! Her website/blog is cocopit.biz. The illustrations are beautiful and they feature the use of geometric shapes and bleeding colours. Love, love, love! €270 each isn't quite within my price range, however...

year 3, project 1.
The beginnings of my first project of final year.
It's based on winter themed images (currently just penguins!) that is going to be used to create a digital print on fabric and a contrasting/complimenting wallpaper. It's in it's real early stages but I want to combine sustained colour drawings with linear drawings to create a contrast. The final piece is going to be quite busy so I need a lot of images ready to scan into photoshop/illustrator. I am also thinking of combining painting either after I have digitally printed, or scanning in the painted grounds to be placed behind my scanned images. Here's some pictures of my visual research...

Chanel. Tautou. Erdem.
I just spent the evening reading through Augusts Vogue without even a thought as to the treats they lay inside for me.
Erdem's A/W '09 collection is beautiful. Printed dresses with appliquéd petals and satin ruffles - so beautiful. The colours are really striking but complement each other perfectly and the collection works fantastically together.
'The Chanel Suits' article was also amazing. It features Audrey Tautou (the new face of Chanel No. 5) as she talks about the build-up and the making of 'Coco before Chanel.' I really cannot wait for the film, because Tautou is the lead character, playing Coco herself, makes it even more appealing.
The images from the shoot are amazing and really capture how beautiful Tautou really is. The film documents Coco's life and how she struggled to become, not only a failed singer, one of the most famous women in the world. It is released at the end of this month.
